Family Systems
An entry-level examination of family process and family counseling. Drawing from a systems approach, students learn how to shift their focus from the individual to the dynamic interplay between members of a couple or family. Major schools of family therapy are studied. Experiential exercises and role-playing complement the theoretical learning. Students explore their own family of origin as a ground for working with others. Trauma in the family, such as child abuse and domestic violence, is also covered.
